most fans have no idea what a crate motor is. Bridgeport was bringing new people to the track with their rookie class and after rookie season was over those drivers were leaving to go to other crate class only tracks like New Egypt and Georgetown. The sportsman numbers fell off through the season because crate motor guys got tired of constantly getting beat by sportsman motors. I hand it to Bridgeport, they tried to even the playing field but obviously couldn't make it work. Hopefully now Bridgeport will have a true support class where the motors won't cost more than some 358 motors.
