BRIAN HIRTHLER WINS JUNE 1 SPORTSMAN FEATURE AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY SATURDAY, JEFF STRUNK WINS HIS SECOND NASCAR MODIFIED FEATURE OF THE SEASON AND DERRICK SMITH WINS REGULARLY SCHEDULED SPORTSMAN FEATURE
BECHTELSVILLE, PA JUNE 8, 2019 . . . For the second time this season Brian Hirthler was able to drive to victory in the 25-lap T.P.Truck Equipment Sportsman feature race that kicked off the Saturday night Whelen Engineering action at Grandview Speedway. Hirthler earned the win in the Sportsman feature that had been rained out from the previous Saturday. Ten time NASCAR Modified champion Jeff Strunk drove to his second feature win of the season taking the 30-lap T.P.Trailers Modified feature. And in the regularly scheduled 25-lap main event for Sportsman Derrick Smith earned his first win of the season.
Finishing second to Hirthler was veteran racing talent Ryan Beltz. Kyle Smith came home third followed by Brandon Edgar and Brad Grim, the point leader going into the night.
Craig Von Dohren had a strong second place finish to Strunk in the Modified feature while Tim Buckwalter grabbed third. Mike Lisowski came home fourth followed by Kenny Gilmore.
Aaron Bowes came home second to Smith in the second 25-lapper for Sportsman. Nate Brinker finished third followed by Brandon Edgar and Joey Vaccaro.
Hirthler and Smith each picked up an extra $100 winning their features with Crate Sportsman.
Coming up next at Grandview is the first Thunder on the Hill Series event of the season which will feature the United States Auto Club (USAC) AMSOIL National Tour Non-Wing Sprint Cars topping off their part of the doubleheader show with the $10,000 to win Jesse Hockett Classic. The second part of the night’s racing will feature the 358 Modified stock cars. Adult admission is $30, young people 6 to 11 pay $10 and those really young people 5 and under are admitted free.
Fans are invited to arrive early, 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., and be part of the Low Down & Dirty Meet & Greet that will feature Sprint standouts such as Robert Ballou, Isaac Chapple, Tim Buckwalter and Joe Biasi.
Racing on Tuesday night will get the green at 7:30 p.m.
Then on Saturday, June 15th, there will be a second in a row three feature night. The T.P.Trailers NASCAR 358 Modifieds will be featured in two 30-lap main events along with a T.P. Truck Equipment Sportsman 25-lapper and there will be a full series of qualifying races. Racing gets the green at 7:30 p.m. Adult admission is $15 while youngsters under 12 being admitted free. There is free parking on the speedway grounds.
