MODIFIEDS RETURN ON “CHARACTER NIGHT” AT WALL STADIUM THIS SATURDAY (MAY 22)
WALL TOWNSHIP, N.J. ~ After a night off, the Modified stock cars return to auto racing action this Saturday (May 22) at Wall Stadium Speedway during “Character Night” festivities. Spectator seating will open at 4:00 p.m., with qualifying slated for 5:00 p.m. Main event action will follow at around 7:00 p.m. This “Character Night” themed event will feature appearances by superheros and other characters during the 6:00 p.m. intermission.
On the high banked third mile paved oval five feature races will be presented with the Modified cars in a 40-lapper and Sportsman cars in a 25-lapper and the Fast 4's in twin 25-lap races. The Open Cockpit winged Three Quarter Midgets are set for a 25-lapper on the fifth mile inner oval.
The Modified 40-lap main event on the night is important in the race for the season-long driving title. Two-time winner and defending champ Andrew Krause of Holmdel will see plenty of competition from two-time champ Steven Reed of Jackson, Blake Barney of Jackson, Toms River's Derek Hopkinson and Brick based racers Eddie McCarthy and Dom Fattaruso, just to name a few.
The Sportsman race will see top racers Jake Nelke of Manahawkin, Neil Rutt III of Edison, and Mike Carr of Pt. Pleasant lead the way. Those drivers, plus many others, will be chasing defending champion and early season winner Jarret DiGiantomasso of Jackson.
Saturday’s schedule will see the competitor pit area open at 1:00 p.m. Regular practice will start at 2:30 p.m., while spectator seating will open at 4:00 p.m. Qualifying will then begin at 5:00 p.m. followed by intermission. Feature race action for all divisions is slated for 7:00 p.m.
