FIRST RESPONDERS” WILL BE HONORED AT WALL STADIUM “CONE RACES” SATURDAY (JULY 31)

WALL TOWNSHIP, N.J. ~ Exciting stock car racing, which will feature a 40 lap race for the Modified stock cars and “cone races” for all divisions, will take center stage on the speedway and community heroes will be honored in the grandstands as Wall Stadium Speedway presents “First Responders Night” this Saturday (July 31). On the track six divisions will compete in six “cone race” main events while in the grandstands the men and women who serve our community in police forces, fire companies and rescue squads will be admitted to the spectator area free of charge with proper identification.

Grandstand seating will open at 4:00 p.m. and qualifying is set for 5:00 p.m. The evening’s main event action will follow around 7:00 p.m.

On the third mile high-banked paved oval the Modifieds will be in the spotlight in a 40-lap main event. Top drivers Andrew Krause of Holmdel, Jackson's Steven Reed, Derek Hopkinson of Toms River, Tommy Martino, Jr. of Farmingdale, Dom Fattaruso of Brick and Jason Treat of Jackson, just to name a few, are expected to see action.

The Sportsman cars, the Factory Stocks, the Fast 4 Cars, Legend Cars and the touring TQ Midgets are all slated to compete in 25-lap feature races. All feature events will be “cone races.”

In a “cone race” a traffic cone is placed on the backstretch at the one-to-go sign for a restart. Any driver can choose to go inside the cone or outside the cone. If the first four drivers choose the inside, for example, the fifth place driver can choose the outside and move up to the front row. Does a driver take the preferred inside groove and restart further back on the inside, or does he or she choose the shorter line of cars on the outside and hope he or she can make it stick? That’s the issue each driver will face on each restart.

Saturday’s schedule will see the competitor pit area open at 1:00 p.m. Regular practice will start at 2:30 p.m., while spectator seating will open at 4:00 p.m. Qualifying for the night’s program starts at 5:00 p.m. and main events will follow at 7:00 p.m.

Wall Stadium presents professional motorsports events on Saturdays and Sundays through early October. Special events are also featured including the season ending Turkey Derby on Friday, Saturday and Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend.

The speedway is located on Route 34 in Wall Township, N.J., just one mile north of Garden State Parkway exit 98 and Interstate 195 exit 35B. The speedway hotline number is 732-681-6400, while CKMotorsports@aol.com is the track’s email address. More information is available at wallspeedwayracing.com.
