A persistent drizzle which hit the speedway during intermission back on June 19th, left the speedway no choice but to cancel the remainder of the program. Rather than run two thirty lap features and with the tire shortage still an issue, track officials decided it would be in the best interest of all competitors to present an extra distance event conserving what tire inventory is available. An increased purse will add to the excitement as the event will carry with it double points.
Twenty five drivers have already qualified for the forty lap main event, but it has been decided to add a last chance race adding three spots to the starting grid. This will allow those drivers not in attendance on June 19th the opportunity to be part of the show.
The NEWS sprint cars and the sportsman will also be a part of the program. In addition, the popular four cylinders have been added to the program making it an event which will see five main events presented all for the regular admission price.
For this special show, the grandstand gates will swing open at 3:30PM as local talent, Josh Werner, will be performing for the fans from 4-6PM. All are invited to grab a bite to eat and enjoy the music in preparation for a super night of competitive racing on the fast Route 539 oval.
Pit gates will open at 4PM with warmups scheduled for 6PM and the drop of the first green flag at 7PM.
The 4th annual Monster Truck Summer Smash will take center stage at the speedway on Saturday, August 21st at 7PM and Sunday, August 22nd at 3PM. Information for both events is readily available by calling the speedway office at 609-758-1900 or go to ticketleap.com to purchase tickets online.
Plans are already in high gear for the second running of the Ron John Koczon Classic on Saturday night, August 28th. The event honors one of New Egypt’s most popular drivers who we lost way to soon in 2020. With $7700 on the line to the winner, a strong field is expected to be on hand for the 77-lap feature.
