ARRA Co-Founder Bill Hanna’s Final Project Highlighted The 2019 Pauch Championship “Double”!

Ringoes,NJ – Auto Racing Research Associates were saddened at the passing of Co-Founder Bill Hanna.  Bill was one of the more active and enthusiastic historians in the organization…always having a project “in the works” or in the planning stages.  Bill’s untimely passing spurred the annual  Bill Hanna Award…presented to someone in the sport who demonstrates passion for the sport.

The 2019 racing season saw an occurrence that is rarely seen in the auto racing world when Billy Pauch Sr. and Jr. each won their respective tracks modified championships…Senior at the Bridgeport Speedway and Junior at the New Egypt Speedway.  A survey amongst the membership of Auto Racing Research Associates at the time found that basically, only one instance could be recalled where a Father and Son won respective TRACK headline division titles in the same season and that was back in 1993 when Bob Kinser won the Sprint car division championship at the Paragon Speedway while his Son Randy won the Sprint car title at the Bloomington Speedway.  Going further..other Son Steve claimed the World of Outlaw Sprint car title that season also.  However, a canvas of the membership could find no other Father/Son combination that claimed two TRACKheadline division championships in the same year.

Bill put together a congratulatory package of stats detailing every week’s efforts by the two Pauch’s at their respective tracks…tallying their weekly points on their way to New Jersey dirt track modified domination in 2019.  Included on the newest ARRA website page are the letters that Bill Hanna communicated with both Senior and Junior, explaining what he had put together for them to commemorate the achievement, as well as the banquet wrap up feature on the Bridgeport title and a comprehensive wrap up of each driver stat-wise that puts all of the information right in one table for easy consumption by the reader.

“This file was something that I truly wanted to add to the website as it was the last project that Billy completed before his untimely passing.” Stated organization President Fred Voorhees.  “Bill wanted to present the packages to the Pauch’s before we added it to the site and the timing of Bill’s passing negated it ever getting to me until just recently when Bill’s Daughter Kimmy allowed me to get into his computer files to retrieve it and get it where people can appreciate it.”

We welcome Pauch fans as well as all racing fans to check out our newest page and, of course, it’s located on Bill’s very own “Special Reports” page!
