Ringoes,NJ – Continuing on their mission to research and document auto racing stats from as many tracks, series’ and organizations as possible…Auto Racing Research Associates .. ARRA..are proud to announce yet another website page added to their list of racing facilities that are now researched in full or are in progress. This time around….noted Southern Tier New York area historian Mike Monnat has submitted the very near complete weekly racing history of his weekly childhood race track…the Shangri-La Speedway…later known as Tioga Motorsports Park!
A very large collection of statistics make up the newest race track research page on the ARRA statistical website! Joining Monnat’s stats on the modified division, are stats courtesy of noted racing statistician Mark Southcott and run the gamut of the divisions that competed at the Southern Tier Modified haven.
“Mike is well known as a walking encyclopedia of Northeastern auto racing knowledge.”, stated ARRA President Fred Voorhees. “He is a regular winner in an informal weekly organized auto racing trivia contest among historians up in his area in Binghamton,NY.”
On the research project. Monnat revealed..”Putting this list together has been a labor of love……for I spent a lot of time at the track. It seems like forever, but it was definitely my home track. For the record, what follows is still…I don’t think…100% complete and I don’t think it ever will be. But it was a lot of fun trying to put this puzzle together.”
ARRA members welcome fans of racing and particularly fans of the old Shangri-La and Tioga Speedways to check out the newest page of research material. Shangri-La Speedway was a regular haunt of such noted NASCAR drivers as Jimmy Spencer and Geoff Bodine.
