NEWS FAN FEST/GRADUATION NIGHT HIGHLIGHT NES CARD
A big night of racing is on the bill Saturday night at the New Egypt Speedway and highlighting the show will be Graduation Night for the rookies. Current point leader David Miloszar Jr has all but wrapped up the 2022 title as he holds a twenty point lead over second place Logan Starr. In the eight features presented this season for the up-and-coming drivers, Miloszar captured five of them. Currently Dominick Antonelli sits in third with Dylan Morris fourth and Tia Aumick fifth.
Prior to the nights racing activities, the stars and cars of the Larry’s Hot Rods and Harleys NEWS division will hold a Fan fest in the turn four picnic area. This will be a wonderful opportunity to see the open wheeled machines up close, meet the drivers, and take photos.
The Vahlco Wheels Modifieds, Hamilton Auto Clinic Crates, and Wash Wagon 4 Cylinders will round out the racing portion of the huge program. In addition, the popular Vintage cars will be on hand for their second appearance of the season.
Heading the modified contingent will be the current points leader and the winner of five features this season, Brandon Grosso. The drivers looking to catch the Belle Mead driver will be former track campions Danny Bouc, Frank Cozze, and Rick Laubach along with Louden Reimert, Mike Butler and rookies Justin Grosso, Anthony Tramontana, and Paul Mancini.
Not only is the Crate division exciting but highly competitive as less than thirty points separate the top five drivers. Ryan Simmons of Cream Ridge currently leads the pack with Joe Toth, Nick VanWickle, Johnny Bangs and Dan Fleming rounding out the top five.
Making the long drive from Taunton, Ma, every scheduled NEWS Sprint show, young Mick D’Agostino sits atop the point standings. Notching five wins this year, D’Agostino has been the most consistent driver in the division. But sitting in second is Heidi Hedin who has not finished lower than third in the six events presented. Three time track champion, Rich Mellor, sits in third followed by Al Cheney and Shea Wills.
Justin Dunn has all but dominated the 4 Cylinder group, but still does not have a big point lead over Joe Garey Jr and Joe Garey Sr. Dunn has recorded four wins in the five races presented. They will compete in a fifteen lap feature event.
