To start things off Christian Bruno was the only 600 micro to time under 9 seconds.Last year we had 4 cars in the 8 second bracket.
Leading off Golden Hammer Night was the 125 micros and this 25 lap event was a position scrambler right from the get go. AJ Gerhart was your leader until right after lap 10 and was unfortunately the next yellow after getting jostled on the restart sending him to the rear. Chris Dolan ,who,while running 3rd inherited the lead and was never to be denied enroute to his 3rd win of the season.John Maurer,coming from his 10th starting spot won the runner up battle over smooth running Chase Wehr in the 22CW.4th,5th and 6th came down to the final turn with Shane Davis besting Sam Borger and Abby Witter.
Hailey Eroh took command of the Junior Slingshot feature early and withstood all advances from Chase Schott to earn her 4th Wingless Weds victory. Getting through the field in the early going from his 9th starting spot was Chase Schott to get the 2nd place payout.Darian Danyluk was a top 5 runner for most of the race but got by Aubrey Romig and Kaiden Klotz to finish 3rd.Romig slotted in for 4th,just ahead of a fast closing Daniel Betz.
Matt McAnally has become one of the toughest competitors at Shellies and he proved his point in the 270 feature.Dylan Kuronya lead the 1st 5 laps,but the show behind him was just beginning to start as McAnally and Richie Hartman, securing a ride in the Cooper Schoenly #67,had to find the fastest way around slower traffic,but still worry about the challenges behind them.McAnally got win # 2 over Hartman with Patrick Kirn just nosing out CJ Fritz for 3rd.Jarrett Imler a 5th place runner for most of the 25 laps continued on for 5th place money.Nick Sweigart earned a solid 9th place run from his dead last starting spot of 24th.
A strong 21 car field of All Star Slingshots used the superbly prepped speedway by Dave Cordier,Jr. to have a few 4 wides midpack that didn't slow down any of the racing.Tucker Cole was going to use his luck of the redraw pole position to his advantage,with Tess Horvath having other ideas.Tess ran with the Cole # 44 for 12 laps until Lindsey Garl,Jax Yohn and Brett Bieber took the lowside under Tess. Horvath would lose 5th to Dan Lane,Jr. as these 5 would sprint to the checker with Cole,Garl,Bieber,Yohn and Lane,Jr. your top 5.
By virtue of having fast time and winning the Cash Dash,Christian Bruno had the enviable pole position for the 30 lap 600 Micro Golden Hammer,$1,000 to win main event. With limited cautions,Bruno set sail, with Richie Hartman having 1 shot as overtaking Bruno on a restart,but Bruno locked down on the lowside keeping Richie 2nd.Things were a little different behind the front running pair.Steven Snyder,Jr,Adam Buchel,Trent Warner and Chris Kurtz also had their favorites line around the high banks.Position shuffling around lap 18 would basically settle the score to the 30 lap checker.Bruno used traffic to his liking getting a .7 second win over Hartman.Buchel kept his # 10 ahead of Snyder,Jr. ,who warded off the last lap advances of Chris Kurtz to get 4th with Kurtz 5th. Coming from the last starting spot in the D Main to finish 9th in the A Main was Alex Ruppert.Getting the Strapped In TV Show Driver of the Week pit pass was 7th place finisher James Roselli.
Primo track conditions lead to some highly competitive racing throughout the night. Plenty of added bonus money and awards were dispersed with even the worst pill draw from all classes getting $20 sponsored by Witter & McAnally Racing.
Next up is the Double Features only night for all 6 regular classes on Weds. July 12th.The rain makeup night portion of the evening will not find any new cars amongst those starting fields.
