ANDREW KRAUSE GETS WALL MODIFIED RACE WIN SATURDAY

WALL, NJ ~ Andrew Krause of Holmdel raced to victory in the "First Responders Night" 40 Modified stock car feature race at Wall Stadium Speedway Saturday night. It was the second win of the season for the three-time and defending Modified driving champion.

Brick's Eddie McCarthy was the first leader of the contest as Krause began his run to the front from his sixth starting spot. McCarthy fought off the advances of Red Bank's Tommy Martino, Jr. early as Krause climbed to third by lap 18 and into second by the halfway point.

After two cautions for minor spins just past halfway, Krause started to turn up the pressure before swinging to the outside lane on lap 24 to take the lead and eventual win. McCarthy then wrestled with Kyle Scisco of Jackson for second before Scisco faded to 12th and Jonathan Mandato of Jackson finished third. Martino and title race point leader Derek Hopkinson of Milltown completed the top five.

"We had a lot of damage after last week's race so the crew had a lot to do this week," Krause said. "A lot of late nights in the shop but the car was just great tonight! That is all thanks to the crew!"

Veteran driver Robert Sutphin of Brick jumped to the lead at the first green flag and then concentrated on the open track in front of him to win the companion 25 lapper for the Sportsman cars. Defending champion Kevin Davison of Howell broke into second in the closing laps, while Ryan Maher of Neptune City was third. Quinn Trimmer of Waldwick and Hazlet's Chris Silvestri were fourth and fifth.

Nate Divone of Howell won his third Legend Cars 25 lap feature of the year while siblings Joe and Lexi Przybylinski, both of Fairfield, were second and third. Howell's Ryan Kuhlthau and Justin Emmons of Spring Lake wrapped up the top five.

Alex Graetz of Wall fought off runner-up Billy Pross of Hazlet almost the entire way to win the 25 lap main event for the Fast 4 cars. Josh Barry, Charles Hankins and Bill Schwartz were third through fifth.

Three-time Limited Late Model champion Brian Doyle of Medford, NY made his Wall Stadium return memorable by winning a main event that was shortened to 21 laps after the track was covered with moisture.. Rick Giannino, Mike Tillett, Bill Vanderveen and Ethan Brown were second through fifth.

The 2023 Wall Stadium Speedway season continues this Saturday night, August 19, with the Modifieds battling in the 127 lap Cliff Krause Memorial. Factory Stocks, Fast 4s and Legend Cars will also see action.

Wall Stadium is located on Route 34 in Wall Township, N.J., just one mile north of Garden State Parkway exit 98 and Interstate 195 exit 35B. The speedway hotline number is 732-681-6400 and email address is ckmotorsports@aol.com.
