May 1 Race Recap:

A limited field of 125s got the night off with some midrace position scrambling that resulted in a last lap battle for 3rd. Shane Davis was the early race leader but was overtaken by Chris Dolan on lap 7 never to be headed the remaining 8 laps with no race stoppages.Davis proceeded on for 2nd with Easton Miller warding off the last lap challenge from Dylan Yeingst. Blaire Schoenly and Tyler Armstrong rounded out the top 6.15 lap distance was completed in 2:28.

The Junior Slingshots were the class of the night for the $500 to win payout and right from the start the action was furious.Carter Hughes was the race leader until lap 7 when Hailey Burnatowski assumed command with Aubrey Romig shadowing her every move.Hailey got caught up in a skirmish with a slower car bringing out the yellow.Staying within striking distance was Hannah Kormann and Daniel Betz from his 11ths starting spot.Lap 10 found last week's winner Hailey Eroh entering the top 5 and pressured Aubrey for the lead on lap 12.The pair battled into turn 1 when Eroh caught a berm tire with the 57 spiraling into turn 2 causing a red.She was okay. Romig had a new challenger, that being Anthony Ciccone, who could run with Aubrey but didn't have enough to get by.Romig scored the hard fought win with Ciccone 2nd and Miles Zehner finding some late race speed to go from 7th to 3rd in 7 laps.Barry Seaman got by Betz on lap 15 for 4th with Betz 5th.Burnatowski rallied back for 6th with Hughes 7th and Cheyenne Snodderly 8th.

Adam Buchel had 1 thing on his mind at the start of the 600 micro main and that was make sure he maintained the lead heading into turn 1 ,the 1st lap. He controlled the 20 lap affair but had several challenges with Dan Lane,Jr., Trevor Kobylarz and Matt McAnally actually poking their front bumper ahead of Buchel, but Adam held the low line to perfection for the win. Some back starters were grabbing some attention at the halfway point with last week's winner Dakota Barlet and Geezer Fanelli mixing it up with a hard charging Bobby Butler.McAnally's race came to an end after taking a turn 4 tumble on lap 14 running 3rd.Buchel had a comfortable distance at the checker over Kobylarz.3rd through 5th came right down to the wire as Barlet notched 3rd over Butler by just .15 seconds, with Butler besting Fanelli by .5 seconds.Lane recouped for 6th followed by Chase Wehr and Kaitlyn Swist.

Not to be denied Stage 1 Modified win # 2 was AJ Gerhart, who needed 13 laps to get to the front from his 6th starting spot.Mark Mohr was setting an early blistering pace with Bryce Dodig Johnny Fugelo,Gerhart and Riley Wanamaker having a torrid 13 lap battle. Lap 11 saw the red flag waved for Leroy Sorenson who had a hard hit into the turn 3 guardrail after tangling with Alexis Spatz.Sorenson needed some medical attention from our award winning EMT staff. These 5 would go under the checker in a little different finishing order as Gerhart took the lead and win on lap 14.Fugelo passed Dodig with 2 laps to go for 2nd.Mohr took 4th by 2 car lengths over Wanamaker.Working through the field was Brett Smith getting 6th from his 15th starting spot.

Matt McAnally goes 2 for 2 in 270 micro action with an outside pass on Patrick Kirn on lap 7 to seal the deal.Kirn led for the 1st 6 laps with Jacob Neff in close pursuit. With 10 laps in Dylan Kuronya was 3rd as Dustin Roberts,Matt Bangs and Adam Buchel were finding some traction in the middle groove heading into turn 1.With 5 to go Roberts and Bangs shot past Kuronya, who had Buchel stalking him for 5th.It was a last lap run to the checkers for 3rd as McAnally and Kirn finished uncontested.Roberts was 3rd as Buchel's last lap pass on Bangs was successful for 4th with Bangs 5th.Chase Zigenfuss,Neff and Abby Witter rounded out the top 8.Buchel won the Driver of the Week Pit Pass.

Not only was the All Star Slingshot race exciting,it went NON-STOP,stopping the clock at 3:33 after 20 laps.Jason Dunklelberger and Luke McCloskey locked up in a race duel that went right down to the finish as the pair had to negotiate slower traffic that became a factor around lap 12.On lap 14 these 2 each chose a low side and a high side to pass a slower car ,which resulted in McCloskey almost assuming command.Behind the pair,it was virtually a scramble between James Benz,Colton Williams,Brett Bieber and Lindsey Garl on who would round out the top 5.Benz held on to 3rd until Bieber made a nice pass heading out of turn 2 on lap 18. The Dunkelberger / McCloskey finish was just separated by .18 seconds.Bieber took the final podium spot in the Tess Horvath Team 42H.4th place was undecided until the checkered as Benz, held off challenges by both Colton Williams and Lindsey Garl for 4th place money.Bobby Klein and Matt Miller rounded out the top 8.

Racing action was contested right from the qualifiers to the A Mains with the mid pack runners getting as much attention as the front runners.
The final checkered was thrown at 9:44 with the final payouts being signed for at 10:05.

Some fantastic racing at the Race Track by the River.
