Another Early Night and More Exciting Racing.

The June 19th Wingless Weds night of racing at the Race Track by the River saw a few win totals increase with some new winners for 2024.

Again, many of the events during the night went green to checker or only had 1 race stoppage with the final checker being thrown at 9:26. For all 6 20 lap A Mains the total time including staging, pushing off and racing was only 71 minutes. Thanks to the drivers, race teams and officials for continuing to keep things moving on the high banks.

First up were the All Star Slingshots and for the 1st 10 laps of the race Lindsey Garl set a blistering pace with Zack Gerber staying within challenging distance before being overtaken by past winner Jason Dunkelberger on lap 10.Not to be left out were the 5 some of Darron Reppert,Tess Horvath,Haley Thunberg,Griffin Hendershot and Colton Williams with 14th starting Darian Danyluk marching through the field. Garl distanced herself from the field leaving Dunkelberger and Gerber battling for 2nd and the rest of the field scrambling to advance their spots.Garl took 2024 win # 2,Dunkelberger 2nd and Gerber held on for 3rd.Horvath slotted in for 4th with Thunberg just besting Williams for 5th by .2 seconds with Hendershot right behind Colton.1 late race caution was the only yellow.

With some new faces in the 600 micro class, quite a few of these drivers hooked up quickly on the well prepped speedway. At the drop of the green Damien Bower was off and running with Matt McAnally following closely.Behind this pair Abel Engler,Adam Buchel and Jakob Stitzel were being joined by 9th starting Trevor Kobylarz and 11th starting Alex Heckendorn.McAnally found a lowside opening heading into turn 1 on lap 8 to take the top spot as Buchel vaulted into 2nd on lap 10.A 5 car incident in turn 2 saw 4th place running Engler getting hooked up with Geezer Fanelli,Aiden Svanda and Donny Smith. The remaining 9 laps was anything goes with Buchel making a turn 2 pass on McAnally for the lead and win on lap 15 with Kobylarz,Bower,Heckendorn and Engler not settling their finishing spots until the checker was thrown with these 4 all within 1 second of each other after 20 laps. This was Buchel's 4th win of the season along with being the 600 micro point leader.

Aubrey Romig was determined to get her 2nd Junior Slingshot win of the season and it was not an easy task to be completed. At the drop of Dave Cordier,Jr.'s green Gavin Wolfe and Aubrey drag raced into turn 1 with Romig getting the advantage off of turn 2.The battle behind her raged on with 3 time winner Hailey Eroh passing Wolfe on lap 8 for 2nd. These 2 raced clean and green until a midrace caution involving 5th place running Hailey Burnatowski and a slower car slowed the pace. With 5 to go Lily Barrett got her 4L by Wolfe with Barry Seaman's high side pass for 4th not working with 2 to go.Romig was victorious,Eroh 2nd and Lily Barrett held firm for 3rd over Wolfe with Seaman squeaking to the line ahead of a late race charge by Burnatowski.Only 1 caution slowed this race.

With no wins to his credit in the 125 micro class for this year,A J Gerhart wanted to end that streak as he did just that right from lap 1 nosing out a strong bid by Blaire Schoenly to take command.3 time winner Chris Dolan had other ideas and put forth a strong effort after getting by Schoenly on lap 13.Staying within top 3 striking distance were Dylan Yeingst,Shane Davis and Easton Miller who was involved in an early race yellow.Gerhart got the win followed by Dolan with Schoenly getting another top 3 finish, just ahead of Miller and Davis. All drivers finished on the lead lap.

The Stage 1 Modifieds have really turned things around from the early season as only 1 caution slowed the 12 car field in their 20 lap main.Johnny Fugelo has been close all season, but late race bad luck had either sidelined or slowed the 5Teen racer. This was not going to happen as every challenge thrown his way by Riley Wanamaker and Mark Mohr was denied except for a lap 16 pass by Mohr that was voided after a lap was not completed due to the caution.Looking strong at the midrace point was Jake Moyer, who was involved in the caution,Brett Smith,Samantha Maguire and A J Gerhart who took a tumble during his qualifying efforts, but his crew worked hard to make the S1 competitive again as he entered the top 5 on lap 13 from his 10th starting spot.Fugelo got the 1st place payout with Mohr 2nd and 2 time winner Brett Smith 3rd.Gerhart rallied for 4th just ahead of Maguire with a Cushman Family battle won by a 6th finishing Alli over Jayda.

The $500 to win class was the 270 micros and after 2 early yellows things settled down and the 3 car battle for the top spot was between Dylan Kuronya,Adam Buchel and Dustin Roberts with Matt Bangs and Chase Zeigenfuss not wanting to be left out. These were the top 5 runners until lap 9 when Matt McAnally entered the scene.Buchel's efforts for the lead were repeatedly warded off by Kuronya as McAnnally got by Roberts and Zeigenfuss for 3rd on lap 14.Kuronya pocketed the $500 as McAnally wrestled 2nd from Buchel with 2 to go.Dustin Roberts and Zeigenfuss completed the top 5 with Michael Petock's strong late race run netting him 6th.

The final checkered was thrown at 9:26 and the pit area was virtually empty at 9:45.

The infield 4 wheeler crew did a fantastic job of quickly clearing the speedway of any disabled cars. Also many of the drivers knew their starting spots giving staging director Stacey Kohler,a much needed easy night with the race time temperature at 91.

Sponsors for the night were Outten Jeep Hamburg,ERMS Racing,Strapped In TV Show and JMF Inc. who sponsored the Fan of the Week pass and also gave each 4th place finisher a few bucks for a cold beverage on their way home.

Feature wins after June 19th: Adam Buchel (600s) 4 , Dylan Kuronya (270s) 2, A J Gerhart (125s) 1, Lindsey Garl (AS Slingshots) 2, Aubrey Romig (Jr. Slingshots) 2 and Johnny Fugelo (Stage 1 Mods)
