Six 20 lap A Mains Completed in 68 Minutes at Shellhammer Dirt Track.

A highly enjoyable night at the Race Track By The River, found the drivers in the six 20 lap A Mains focused with minimal cautions resulting in quite a few 3 and 4 wide battles as Mother Nature left a few sprinkles in the surrounding area.

On the speedway 1st was the 125 micros and this race saw AJ Gerhart find some racing room heading into turn 1 on the opening lap to get by Easton Miller and Dylan Yeingst and withstand challenges by Yeingst and Dan Lane,Jr. hopping into the Chris Dolan driven #16. A Lap 17 caution gave Lane,Jr. the opportunity to overtake Gerhart but once the pair exited turn 2,the gap widened. Lane,Jr. stayed close but Gerhart got his third win with Lane,Jr. just .3 seconds behind. Shane Davis entered the top 3 on lap 9 and stayed there for the remaining 11 to get 3rd.

The Junior Slingshots have really put on some enjoyable races this year and this one only had 2 race slowdowns with Aubrey Romig getting a good bite off of turn 2 to get by Gavin Wolfe on lap 1 and had to ward off the early race run by Barry Seaman, who still showed some speed with a bent rear axle. Lap 8 had a turn 2 three wide that had cars bouncing off the outside wall but never losing positions with Hailey Eroh slipping past Seaman,Wolfe and Lily Barrett to go from 5th to 2nd. Behind this pair it was a shootout to the checker as Barrett powered to the high side of Seaman to reside in 3rd. The last 5 laps Romig managed to get through lapped traffic giving her the advantage she needed to get her 3rd win of the season. Eroh and Barrett had 2nd and 3rd locked down, but there was a new speedster charging through the pack as Cheyenne Snodderly got by Gavin Wolfe under the white flag securing her 4th place run with Wolfe rounding out the top 5. After an early race shuffle, besetting Hailey Burnatowski back to 9th,she quickly rebounded to get a nice 6th place run.

With the $500 winner's share going to the 270 micros,it was the first driver to the front, better have the best handling car and find the quickest way by slower traffic. Dylan Kuronya did just that as Dustin Roberts,Matt Hoffman, Rockey Johnson,Sr. and Adam Buchel were setting a blistering pace behind him. Roberts and Hoffman swapped 2nd and 3rd sometimes 4 times a lap with Hoffman tucked to the lowside to cleanly pass Roberts on lap 14. Johnson,Sr. faltered on lap 9 allowing Matt McAnally to pass him and become a driving force inside the top 5. Quickly closing the gap to the leader Kuronya was Hoffman and his final charge fell just .12 seconds short of getting his 1st 2024 win. Kuronya got the cash, his 4th win and another trip to victory lane. Hoffman slotted in for 2nd with Roberts on the podium with a solid 3rd. Buchel finished a comfortable 4th with McAnally improving 5 spots to get 5th. A point of interest was DJ Tanner getting 7th from his last starting spot.

Looking to repeat his run through the Stage 1 Modified field like he did last week was AJ Gerhart and it wasn't to be that easy as Dylan Kontra and Johnny Fugelo quickly distanced themselves from the rest of the field. The early going had Riley Wanamaker,Owen Cassell and Brett Smith joining the front running pair for the 1st 11 laps with Gerhart and Mark Mohr trailing closely behind. A Lap 11 turn 2 four wide had the fans on their feet as Gerhart wheeled by Smith and Cassell to become the 3rd place runner. Lap 16 was unkind to Johnny Fugelo as he pulled the 5Teen to the infield off of turn 2 as the leader after holding off Gerhart and Smith. The race to the checker was not to be challenged with Gerhart getting his seventh Stage 1 win of 2024 ahead of Brett Smith. Rallying back for 3rd was Kontra just ahead of Cassell and Mark Mohr.

One of the most competitive races of the year was the 20 lap 600 micro main. This race left no fan disappointed as the only race stoppage was on the opening lap. Chase Wehr was dialed in for the 1st 13 laps as Adam O'Brien and Adam Buchel could get to the #22 but could not pass him. Entering the scene was multi-time point champion Richie Hartman with Amanda Buchel and Matt McAnally joining the front runners. A lap 17 scramble saw Adam Buchel nose by Wehr heading out of turn 2 for the lead and Dan Lane,Jr. sliding by McAnally to enter the top 5. Buchel used slower traffic to his advantage to get a 1.2 second win,but behind him it was a drag race off of turn 4 with Wehr getting 2nd over Hartman by inches. Not to be outdone was the wheel to wheel twosome of O'Brien and Lane,Jr. with O'Brien getting 4th place money by inches over Lane,Jr.Behind these 5 it was 1 big cluster of machinery with McAnally JT,Bierman,Wayne Scott and Ryan Rochelle under the proverbial blanket for 6th through 9th.

Coming close quite a few times in the 2024 All Star Slingshot season was Colton Williams and he made the most of his front row starting spot, even though Jason Dunkelberger had a slight advantage in turn 2 on lap one. It didn't take long for Brett Bieber to become a contender as he vaulted from 5th to 3rd in 3 laps getting by Dan Lane,Jr. and Wyatt Taschler. Daniel Betz's 5th place run would be short lived as Anthony Ciccone outgunned Betz in turn 4 on lap 8. Lindsey Garl was part of a lap 1 incident and she needed to rally past quite a few cars for a good finish. With 5 to go it was Williams pacing the field with Dunkelberger and Bieber, now having a battle all their own. The final 2 laps were showstoppers as Williams had no issues taking the win,but behind him it was an all out assault to the checkers as Dunkelberger nipped Bieber for 2nd with Ciccone getting a strong 4th place finish. Garl diced her way from 13th after the 1st yellow to earn a well run 5th nosing out Taschler.

Final checker was thrown at 9:33 and everyone was paid and on their way home at 9:50.

The 2024 Wingless Wednesday season concludes on September 25th with a full slate of 6 division racing.
