ANDREW KRAUSE CHARGES TO WALL STADIUM MODIFIED WIN
WALL, NJ ~ Andrew Krause of Holmdel charged from tenth on the starting grid to win the 40 lap Modified stock car feature race at Wall Stadium Speedway Saturday night. The victory was the three time champion's fifth of the season and tightened the 2024 point race with defending champ Derek Hopkinson going into this Saturday night's (Sept. 28) "Champion's Night" regular season finale
Jake Nelke of Manahawkin was the first leader of the event until his car lost power on a lap 12 restart. Kyle Scisco and Jarret DiGiantomasso, both of Jackson, wrestled on the restart before Scisco powered to the lead. Meanwhile Krause was charging to the front as he advanced to fifth at the halfway point, third by lap 27 and into second by lap 30. Then, with just five laps remaining, Krause completed his climb to the front with a race winning restart pass. Scisco and Jackson's Blake Barney were second and third, with Hopkinson and DiGiantomasso completing the top five.
After enjoying his son Rob's three victories this season, Howell's Bob Anderton got his chance at victory lane leading a non-stock Factory Stock 25-lapper from start to finish. Brick's Nick Catone was second while Howell;s Brian Osborn was third. Title contender Rob Anderton and Shanon Mongeau of Island Heights were fourth and fifth. Manchester's Scott Riggleman, who entered the event as the point leader, was sixth.
Zach Lenardo of Iselin raced to his second win in the night's 25 lap Sportsman feature holding off point leader Kevin Davison to the finish. Rahway's Billy Both, Jonathan Laureigh of Lanoka Harbor and DJ Doyle of Freehold were third through fifth. Title contender Chris Silvestri of Hazlet was eighth.
Alonzo Morales of Edgewater Park won the 25 lap Fast Four main event, with fellow title contender TJ Graves of Wall finishng second. Josh Barry, Jerry Stanzione and Eric Mancini wrapped up the top five.
Pat Brown of Islip, NY won the final battle that was the 25 lapper for the Limited Late Models, but Brian Doyle of Medford, NY won the war as he claimed his fourth Driving Championship. Mike Tillet was second in the race followed by Doyle and James Moorman.
The 2024 Wall Stadium Speedway regular season concludes this Saturday night, September 28 with “Champion's Night” festivities. The Modifieds, Factory Stocks, Sportsman, Fast 4 cars, Legend Cars and TQ Midgets will all be in competition. Qualifying is at 5:15 p.m. with main events starting at 7:00 p.m.
