Modified Legend Ray Hendrick is Added to ARRA Website Drivers List
Ringoes,NJ – One of the pioneers of early asphalt modified racing in the country was Ray Hendrick….known as “Mr. Modified” for the ease with which he was able to figure out a track from the Southernmost regions of the country to the Northeast, Hendrick was a feared competitor when he was noticed towing his rig through the back gates of a multitude of race tracks.
ARRA is proud to announce that Ray Hendrick has been added to the roster of top flight drivers that have had their driving career researched and documented by the crack crew of historians of the Auto Racing Research Associates. The Virginia native amassed a total of 412 feature event victories in a variety of machines and divisions…mostly, of course, the modified division. Hendrick was inducted into the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame and the International Motorsports Hall of Fame and was named one of the top 50 drivers of NASCAR.
Maryland historian Larry Jendras was one of the first round picks of national historians that the five ARRA Founding Members reached out to to inquire about an interest in joining them in their effort to document as much of the sport as possible to help in preserving its history. Jendras was excited to become a member and has been doing a great job in the group effort ever since.
“This submission of Ray Hendrick’s career record ranks right up there with those of Bob McCreadie, Richie Evans, Al Tasnady, Bugs Stevens and so many other greats that have made the sport what it is today!” claimed ARRA President Fred Voorhees when he was notified by Jendras of the forthcoming submission. “There’s a certain level of driver that just gives me chills and goose bumps when we get them a page on our site…..and Ray Hendrick is right up there in that rarer air of competitors! I am so happy to have his career on our site!”
The ARRA historians invite all race fans to take a moment to check out the newest page added to the ever growing website of statistics on a variety of auto racing subjects. Ray Hendrick….welcome to ARRA!!
