FROM: NEW EGYPT SPEEDWAY

DATE OF RELEASE: SEPTEMBER 9, 2021

FOR RELEASE: IMMEDIATELY

HOLSTEN RACING FAILS POST RACE INSPECTION

Following a post-race inspection, due to a protest Saturday night September 4, 2021, the Rick Holsten owned #96 was found to have altered heads. As a result of the infraction, all points and money from the September 4, 2021 event will be forfeited. In addition, the team is suspended from any further points races for the 2021 campaign and they will lose an additional 100 points.

The heads were shipped to Brodix Cylinder Heads in Mena, Arkansas where the investigation found the heads to be altered to the degree which constituted an infraction of the NES rules.

As most of you were aware we were protested Saturday Night to pull our heads which we gladly did. This motor was a sealed motor by New Egypt's tech inspector. He specifically sealed it himself and no issues were had. When the heads came out they were sent out with no worries. We were notified late last night that there might be an issue. We contacted the individual who we had purchased the heads from and spoke to Brodix. Brodix informed us there was no mechanical advantage and that there was nothing done to the heads. The person who we bought the heads from told us that the guy who owns the track has purchased 3 sets of these heads as well. The owner of the track made the final decision and if they claim our heads are illegal, tracks better be pulling seals and sending heads to brodix after each race or we all aren't on a level playing field. We were very disappointed with how the situation was handled by ownership.

After reading the report from the inspector of the heads, there seems to be absolutely no reason for the 96 car to be penalized. NES will take a huge hit from this one. Still haven't heard who challenged the car. You would assume it would be one of the top runners looking for the championship.

Flo has both Georgetown race tonite and Bridgeport's tomorrow for those who want an alternative at a bargain price and none of the shenanigans. Enough is enough with Freddie for me.  No question anymore that Amazon parking is priority there now over racing.

This is BS this track is getting worse by the race they don't know how to run a track and they are losing drivers and fans this isn't the first incident this year with this track and to top it off Billy Jr motor was sealed by the track so how can he fail post race inspection HMMMM.and I heard it was Gular who protested I guess because he got beat and lost the points lead to Billy and he's crying because he got beat from someone that started 20th.so New Egypt I think you just burried your coffin, and stop posting about your new Hospitality suite thats over priced and worry how to run a track I support as many tracks as I can but Never going to support New Egypt again unless it's sold to people that know how to run a race track not runnig drivers and fans out.and 1 more why don't you strip down Ormsbee who won every street stock feature.

Why do you assume something underhanded is going on. The track released their side of the story and so did the 96 team. Nothing can be determined from 2 sides telling vastly different stories. If you believe the 96 the track was told everything was fine and he was disqualified anyway. To believe this you would have to believe Brodix wouldn't come out and defend the 96 team after they found out they were Dq'd anyway. If this doesn't happen then I have to question the Holstens 96 post on FaceBook. If it does happen then we have a mess. I don't like that the 96 team played the we bought then from someone else card.

Don't quote me on this, but I think by stating..."bought from the same guy", he meant same supplier, not some individual selling used motors. As far as Brodix is concerned, they weren't hired to form opinions...in this situation, their response that the inspection resulted in "no competitive advantage and within speck" pretty much days it all. They don't need to defend him, their words do that. They are smart to stay neutral.

one could argue that the NES tech inspector missed the modification to those heads when the motor was sealed which should have made those heads illegal by the definition stated in the rule book.

That doesn't excuse the fact that the heads, according to the statement Brodix made had grinding in the chamber outside of the valve seat which according to the rules makes them illegal.

Who is at fault? is it the engine builder who is modifying the heads?

the only one that said there was no competitive advantage is the 96 team.

nowhere in that statement from Brodix says that there was or was not a competitive advantage.

if theres no advantage then why make those cuts?

Gulars heads had no such modifications and were deemed legal.

Pauches statement said there are 3 other sets of "those" heads out there. What does that even mean?

what makes those heads so "special" that they were sought out by certain teams from "that guy" as admitted by Pauch himself.

the heads are supposed to be "as cast" right from Brodix with no grinding on page 23 of the NES rules.

The rule is right there for anyone to read on the website;

"CYLINDER HEADS: Chevrolet #SP CH, Ford #SP FO and Mopar #SP MO only. Spec heads will be supplied with CNC bowl blend and intake port match.

No grinding or blending of CNC machine work. No grinding, polishing or undercover porting anywhere on the casting. No welding or epoxy permitted."

there are 20 + or minus teams that roll into NES every week.

the rulebook is there to make it fair for everyone.

NES after race tech inspection generally consists of carb and fuel check and some other measurements around the Body and rear end offsets.

the Tech inspector generally uses has no-go gauges to make sure no ports are modified before sealing

one team got tossed last year because of a heavy left rear axle tube that was clearly not allowed in the rule book. which is a trick the latemodel guys use for more left side bite. he got caught and decided to take his toys elsewhere and make NES the bad guy when he was the one that violated the rule

NES has to be fair to everyone no matter what your name is otherwise if the other teams feel someone is allowed to "slip through" the other teams will go elsewhere for a level playing field.

NES is not out to get Pauch as I'm seeing all over the social media.

NES did not single out Pauch for a teardown inspection.

He was legally protested by another competitor that anyone in the pits willing to put up the money can do.

NES is not the Bad guy here and they have the responsibility to treat everyone equally

I will question the 'legally protested by another competitor' statement. DVH is a house driver. His car is owned by the track owner. Therefore, the track owner gets to call the shots. If Fred says 'Protest Pauch', guess what, DVH protests Pauch. He gets told what to protest and it gets done. Fred can afford to pay for the protest.

I don't see a track car calling protest a level playing field. Never did, and I never will.  A track owner should not have a car that also runs at the track.

The response back from Brodix was to Fred..............There is no secret about the anemosity towards anyone named Pauch at NES. It started with the tire deal that Fred inherited and hadda live with till the contract was over. The 96 has already been shafted out of a championship once before.  I wonder how many sets of heads have been mailed to Brodix in the history of NES. In the NES rulebook there the rules about penalties for violations are clear.  The money won and the points for that event are forfeited it states. There is no rule that says an additional 100 points be taken and suspensions of additional points events.  This is nothing more than making up rules as you go to ensure the 96 can't win the title. I know of at least one more empty seat that will stay empty until new ownership takes over that cares about the facility.  Bye Fred  good luck your gonna need it. Billy Jr and Rick have kept this as classy as possible under the circumstances.

you need to learn to read

PROTESTS & PENALTIES: 1. Penalties will be enforced at the discretion of speedway management. Illegal components found in post---race technical inspection will be confiscated by the Speedway.

2. Any rules infraction found INSIDE the bolts of the motor including the MSD or any equivalent electrical system will receive a 100 point penalty plus loss of that night’s points/money as well as a loss of handicapping for three races.

3. Any rules infraction found OUTSIDE the bolts of the motor: First Offense: Driver will receive last place points and money earned for that event. Second Offense: Driver will receive NO POINTS and NO MONEY for that event as well as a loss of handicapping for the next three races

If thats correct I stand corrected TY........One more question though.............what is the purpose behind requiring teams to have the motors sealed by NES?..........sounds like a nice scam for source of revenue.   Either NES tech failed to find these "infractions" before sealing or knowingly allowed it. The timing and Fred antics are what makes the stench of this so bad.  I'm done with this post and NES until it has new ownership

there was no "timing" involved by NES

it was a protest that started the ball rolling by another team.

NES did its job according to the rulebook

But the protest was by the NES car and driver. Doesn't that have a particular "smell" to it to you? Or are you just a fan that says the track tech team is independant and always looks out for the racer? Because you must be blind not to see the conflict of interest in this whole thing.

I will not return until there is a new management, and Fred is no longer involved. If that means the track closes, then I am sorry to hear that, but I can't support this trank any longer.

Doesn't matter whether the heads were purchased new or used. The key talking points are that there was ABSOLUTELY NO MECHANICAL ADVANTAGE, according to Brodix and that the "bench scars" were from a heavy handed shop worker that did the rebuild/valve job. Period. Nobody cares what you think, your opinion is duly noted . . . . . Worry about NY Mods  ; )

Brodix had no reason to defend Pauch. They gave a report that said there was some touching of the aluminum and didn't go any further. Should they have said it didn't have a performance enhancement? No. They wern't asked that. They gave the stock answer to the question they were asked. If you ask them if it enhanced performance, you might get an answer that would end all this BS about it.

DVH was the one that protested. Guess who he drives for? Owner of the track that also has 3 sets of the same heads.

Fred just does not like the Pauch family.  He just acn't seem to run the track fair and let whoever wins, win.

Had the same deal with Sr as well. Prtested the fuel and it didn't pass "the smell test". Passed every other tesst though. Never did find any altering, just the smell.

I think you need to wipe your glasses of and re-read Ny modman's post. That statement came right from Brodix to Fred, not Holsten. The way I read it, it sounds like the grinder might have nicked the head. That's not Holten's or Pauch's fault.

I lived through it with Pauch Sr, but this is just a repeat of then. They don't want a Pauch there, so they don't want me or any of his fans there. I'll go to bridgeport before I'll go back there, and its way closer to go to NES.

Bullshit.  tThey said there were touches from the valve job done and nothing else. All Gular protested was the bore and stroke. Management decided to protest the heads. This is another witch hunt as was done to Pauch Sr.  This guy just does not like the Pauch family and does not want them to win a champion season if he can help it. So Gular gets the championship ( with an astrick, as far as I'm concerned).
