After what they did to the 96 team, I will NOT be going there!! And that track is the closest of the 3 to my home.

Are you against enforcing the rules for everyone or just the Pauch family?

Exactly what rule was broken? Al I have read leads me to believe what they found on those heads was accepted machining practices. Grinding sharp edges, a scratch on one valve port? I am a tool and die maker, so I know what I'm talking about. And the inspectors even said what they found did NOT affect preformance. They cost that team at least $13,000.00 for what?

Beings you have stepped up to be a spokesman for the NES decision to DQ.  I couldn't help but wonder if you have any info on how many modified teams that didn't have the last name of Pauch  have been DQ'd since the Grasso's sold it and the new ownership took over? Somewhere someone has that info. TY

If you give a racer a .001 of an inch out of spec, or a pound on the scales, the next one will be .002 over. And then .005 or 5 pounds on the scales....... and so on.....and so on..... And they will say that you gave the other guy .001 lof an inch, what's wrong with .002. Gotta stick to the specs in the rule book.

As far as I know Pauch Jr is the only person to say this publicly, so I can't accept it as fact.

>>> Pauch was the ony person to say anything publicly <<<

Put on your glasses and read last weeks AARN. The engine builder and the guy that did the heads had plenty to say publicly.

Actually those FACTS came from a letter sent to FRED VAHLSING by BRODIX. And what is the sense in spending all that money to have the heads sent out for inspection if you are not going to accept their opinions. What they found "would not affect performance". Now, why has NES allowed this to be decided in the 'court of public opinion' rather than make a statement defending their stance? We could speculate all day long, but they could, and should, try to put out the REAL reasons. Their silence is deafening!

I just posted Brodexs' reply. At no point in their statement did they say that there was "no performance enhancement"....I'm not saying that there was, but quoting the results incorrectly is misleading. The only person that said that was the 96 team. I like Billy Jr. And wish him all the luck, and don't really know what he was supposed to do about this as the engine was sealed. But the bottom line is RULES ARE RULES.

Fact is the Holsten 96 heads are the only ones in the history of NES to be sent back to manufacturer.  Fred finally gets what he wants since he took over

Here is the reply from Brodie that mysteriously disappeared from the previous thread. It makes no statement about performance advantage and also mention an additional set of heads. Deal with the facts.

My comprehension skills are just fine there Moddie. Perhaps it's yours that need a fine tuning.

If you read the article in the paper or in the Email from Brodix (assuming you can read) it very plainly says the cutter touched the aluminum. When you do valve jobs on two year old heads, the margin of error decreases. The grinder touched the aluminum is another way of sying it was a machining error.

Was it a violation? Technically yes. But I guess it's dependant on how badly you want to move your car up in the standing. Was it cheating? I doubt it. Was it intentional? I doubt that. Grinders have been known to touch things they're not supposed t. I've got a nice reminder of that on the back of my hand as proof.

The big questions we should be asking is if the heads are illegal, why did the track seal the engine in the first place and why did Fred want the heads checked when Gular was only protesting the bore and stroke?

I await those entertaining

answers over the noise from the chirping crickets.

You didn't comprehend my reply correctly. Nowhere in the message from Brodix does it say it wasn't a performance advantage like Tuckahoe Tom points out. Also you just choose to ignore the sentence preceeding the circled one.
