Is it true you will be throwing a competition caution at halfway during the modified feature? Hope it isn't so!!! |

Straight from the rule book.
2022 Adjustments – updated 12/21/21
Planned caution at lap 15 – It’s nice that we do not have many cautions and do not tear much equipment up at Bridgeport, but extensive non stop laps is hard on engine temperatures. We will take a break at lap 15 and pace a few laps to settle everything down. • Restart will be single file • If there is a caution at lap 9 and under we will still stop at lap 15. • If a caution comes between lap 10 – 15. We will not stop at 15 and will be normal restart procedures.
I thought the reason to shorten the track was to ease up on motor strain.
Also, does this mean that during the 60 lapper, there will be a caution at laps 15,30 and 45?
Or during the 100 lappers there will be cautions at laps 15,30,45,60,75 and 90? |

Boy that is about as stupid as something NASCRAP does to ruin an event. Dirt modified racing just can't help but shoot itself in its foot. I know I don't have the money or the knowledge to run a track, but man some of the rules modified tracks come up with I just don't get it. I try hard to spend money and go to the local tracks in the PA/NJ area when I can but man they make things crazy some times. |

When I read this in the AARN last night I did a double take. Never heard of this being done for regular features. This will open up alot of loopholes, will they be allowed to go to the pits, add fuel on the track or is this just for alignment and taking a breather purpose? Also the single file re start sucks! |

Another shot at the little team in racing. He starts in the front due to points, gets out to a nice size lead pretty much guaranteeing a shot of a good finish but now the big names have worked their way to the front and low and behold the track throws the yellow and allows the money teams to take over control of the race. I go to the races to see guys do well that don't normally do well. Guess swill have to go to a different track to see that. |

The premise here is that is that non stop features create a strain on motors
How many features last year went green to finish with no caution
what is the number of teams who have sufferred from motor issues for this reason? |

Guess screaming those small blocks at over 8 grand ain't no good? But hey, they are cheaper. |

Ease on the motors of a 30 lap race?? Sounds like someone trying to be smarter than what they are. Why not ask the drivers what they think about the idea before implementing? I am sure the deivers do not like this idea |

Forgive me as I'm late to the party. Did I read correctly that we are throwing a halfway caution on purpose to limit strain on the engines? They don't want to go 30 laps non stop? Did I read that these guys are running small blocks and they can't handle a 30 lap run? I admit that I've ceased following modifieds closely as I've moved to non wing sprint cars. Why don't they run run big block engines anymore?? Growing up at Flemington the modifieds were big blocks and the small blocks were simply called sportsman. I guess Bridgeport needs a halfway break for sportsman?? Like I said I've strayed away from mods so maybe using little engines is now the norm. They ran small blocks back in the day at the big track without a break so I'm not sure why they would need one on the smaller track. If it's too much of a strain on the engines then maybe it's time to scrap the stupid trash dumpster bodies and have less downforce. Why don't they run big blocks anymore? |

A big block is not competitive on that style track. A spec, with the weight break is the way to go.
If the race stays green, this halfway break will allow the top guns a chance to get to the front.
Let them race, no bullshit cautions!

So then maybe I'm too old school. If ya wanna run a small block so be it, but there is no weight break. Whatever is the BB minimum is what everybody runs. It's so simple. Again this is modifieds not sportsman. If the little engines can't keep up well then it's probably time to put the big boy engines in and go race. It doesn't need to be this hard. 🤷♂️ |

One thing I think you are missing. Just because they say "small block" doesn't necessarily mean 358's. They have engines larger than 358 cid but are still called small blocks. Not sure where the cut off is from small block to big block. Many tracks, Bridgeport included, are 'in between' tracks. Too small for a big block, too big for big block. Big blocks just spin there wheels. Small blocks put the power to the track. |

bridgeport dont run open small blocks only speck 358 small blocks and big blocks if you choose 358 are like egypt diamond and grandview. they are good reliable motors and dont need a 15 lap yellow . |

I just sent an email to Rose about this idiotic idea. Judging from other emails I've sent him, I won't hear a peep out of him. Apparently the only way you hear back is if you tell him how great he and his track are.
My other complaint is they never run URC with the modifieds. I used to look forward to them in the same show. |

Well I spoke too soon... He replied saying they have canned the "competition yellow" due to public outcry. As far as URC not running with the mods like they did for many years, he stated they are 2 headline divisions and that's not his business model. Lastly the flexible starting time will be announced early in the week depending on the forecast temps. He doesn't want a daytime slick track if they can run later in the day. I understand that but I'm sure it will be a problem for some people. I'm glad he got back to me. |
