NEWS CHAMPION WILL SEE $1,000 CHECK IN ‘22 AT NES
The North East Wingless Sprints will see the biggest season long payout in the division's history thanks to Larrys Hot Rods and Harleys of Croydon, Pa. Once again, Larry Drake has stepped up to the plate in a big way as the 2022 champion will receive a check in the amount of $1,000 While the champion will see a bigger pay day, the top five finishers have not been forgotten. Second place will receive $700, third $500, fourth $400, and fifth $300.
Looking to take home this record-breaking amount is defending and three-time New Egypt Speedway champion, Rich Mellor of Wrightstown. The seventeen-time feature winner will not have an easy time of it though as several drivers will be looking to dethrone him.
Second place finisher in the 2021 standings and winner of two main events, young Mick D'Agostino has become a tough competitor week in and week out. Hailing out of Taunton, Ma., D'Agostino makes the long trip to the tricky 7/16 oval for every scheduled event and is definitely a threat for the title.
Other drivers eyeing the top prize will be third place points finisher in 2021 Brian Spencer of Old Bridge, young up and coming driver Shea Wills of New Egypt, and Doylestown, Pa Heidi Hedin who finish fifth in last season's final point tabulations.
In addition, 2021 feature winners Lee Nardelli and Brad Schalle along with veterans Al Cheney, Duan Nixon, and Stan Ploski III will make this division a very tough one in 2022.
The Route 539 oval will proudly begin its twenty fifth season as a dirt facility on April 2nd with a five- division program featuring the Cabin Fever 40 for the always exciting modifieds. The program will begin at 6PM with the gates opening to the fans at 4PM.
