Msg ID: 2741638 Grandview Thank You, Really? +39/-24

In Grandview's statement they thanked the employees, drivers, and fans for making the track what it is today. Unfortunately, this track is going to become a scrap yard. This is not a thank you, it is a slap in the face. Forest and Bruce Rodgers built this track to what it is today. You would think that the owners would want their legacy to live on as a race track. It would have been nice if they sold the track to someone that would keep it going. I hope the owners of Grandview read this and reconsider what they are doing to the dedicated employees, drivers, and fans.

I know it is a difficult pill to swallow . In New  Jersey we lost 2 prominent speedways just like that. One of the tracks being one of the greatest  dirt tracks the Flemington Speedway. What happens when these track close these loyal fans and drivers adjust and look for other tracks  to race at and attend.  I hope the outcome is positive  for Grandview but it doesnt look good.

I think this will be a long process and is still very early. We just have to  wait and see.

Wonder why it is that almost these people with the snarky attitude of "Just outbid a billion dollar corporation" don't actually go to Grandview? It is easy to act like a **** and be dismissive when it is not your local track closing.

How often are you there? No wonder you act like the people who do go there should just "buy the tracK."

Well, sure. But to say that people should just outbid a company worth $28 billion is not realistic. That is just being an *******.

Good article in the Morning Call. Bruce told her  what he would want if he was selling before he passed. Strange that Coparts plans were not presented at the August 25th meeting. Maybe they want to keep the race fans hanging?

Anger is normal as one of the stages of grief. A racetrack closing anywhere sucks. While never a Grandview regular, I have attended races there for over 30 years. I had a deeper connection to other tracks and their closings like Penn National in '96 and Syracuse in '15. Dirt Week that year was pretty much a 5 day funeral. I was bitter when they happened but later chose to look back with appreciation rather than anger. Never look back in anger.            As others have said, the Rogers family does not owe us anything and they are doing what they see is right for the family. Though it would be a difficult decision, I would take the financial security over small weekly profits and sentiment also, especially in today's so-called economy. In my opinion, the saddest part is we are going to see much more of this in the coming years.
