Has there ever been a more dominant season in modified racing than Matt in the 9s this year? |

I am not sure but his resume from this year has to rank near the top. I think the last 6 races he has competed in have all been wins. Without any argument he is the best this year. |

Bob, Alan, and Decker all had years that were close to this. I don't think Brett, Danny, or Pauch ever won as many big races in a year. The Deyo races this year remind me of NASCAR modified raced with the tire strategy. |

He is having a career season for sure. All of the good drivers have had a great season or two but this one as far as money races goes has to be one of the best. Last nites race was 75 green flag laps, and to me if you are going to have yellow flags for shock changes then I guess I've lost touch with what racing is. |

Decker had one year that he won 21 races that included many big wins. He had 3-4 years almost consectively that he won 11 times races over 50 laps. I assume that these were the higher paying shows. His 21 win year included wins at Super Dirt week Fonda and Lebanon Valley |

Barefoot Bob had a 47 win season wich included 18 wins of 50 laps or longer.. I assume that these were higher paying shows. He won many of the 200 lap races but oddly enough that year I dont think he won at Super Dirt Week. He had a dominating season in which he took a great deal of the higher paying races. Without a doubt worthy of high praise |

I think Hearn's 1990 season is a good comparision. He won the last 7 big races. Some of these were small block shows |

Pauch had many very good years to great years. A comparable year would be 1989 when he won some big races. This would include Fulton Grandview and Delaware championship weekend. as far as wins for a season you can compare Pauch to Sheppard but as far as elite races. I think this year Sheppard has Pauch beat |

At some point Pauch would have to be eliminated from this discussion as he is not a champion of the biggest race BBMs run. He is like Dan Marino, the greatest qb to never win a super bowl. Before the faithful get on my case and say if Vic Voffey better than Pauch because he won SDW?? The answer is no. The topic of discussion here is the greatest season for a driver. If not winning the biggest race on the schedule is not a prerequisite then this topic is pointless. No need for arguing it's just simple facts. The guy did a lot of big things. Just didn't win the big one. |
