Wondering if anyone has done ther research on what it would take to make a dirt modified legal in NJ (or NH as I have ties to that state as well - random I know).

I searched out this online, but there doesn't seem to be a lot of informaiton other then a few peole who have cars (very few) and you see images of them.

Know it isn't everyones dream, but wondering if our state makes it impossible.

Thanks for any insight. Happy New Year.

Image for reference of my thoughts..

Found this page:  (3) Street Legal Oval Track Cars 2 | Facebook

Guessing I could start here and ask those who have already done it.

I would think building a street-legal modified would fall into the same catagory of a kit car or street rod. People build street rods from a mixture of used frames, bodies and parts. Some do cars with reproduction frames and bodies. In either case there are no VIN numbers and a new VIN must be issued by the state. I would advise reviewing your state's inspection rules as a guideline when building the car. I have seen street-legal modifieds, sprint cars, dune buggies and other novelty vehicles so it can be done, just have to follow the right procedures regarding inspection, VIN tagging and insurance.

I would think insurance would be a bit of a problem.
