I attended the show and I am not one who gets all ga ga about the wingless sprints but what I saw from Joey Amanthea blew me and the entire crowd away.  I thought for sure in warmups and heats Briggs Danner was gonna stink up the show, but I couldn't be more wrong.  Even though it really a very competitive feature.........I coulda watched J A go 50 more laps...........driving it wide open with a tiny burp before going into turn 1 and 3 hammering it through the corner exits wide open.  The mod show was good too, the tracked looked locked down almost everybody glued to the bottom and those who tried the top usually slid back. Alot of restarts the last 5 laps Junior somehow made the middle stick. All in all great nite on whats been a pretty abismal racing season.

If you ever get to see traditional sprints on a track that has a cushion, that is not black-slick or at least has two useable lanes you would understand the 'ga-ga'. Most northeast track prep caters to the local divisions, modifieds, winged sprints, late models ect. They require slick.       One thing Joey Amantea will never be accused of is lack of bravery. Many drivers in the USAC ECS fall into that catagory. Traditional sprint cars require finding the edge to win races and there is no safety net like with other forms of racing.

No disrespect, I've been to 79 tracks more than 2/3 dirt tracks.  I'm a mod guy, I got the ga ga in the nineties for the outlaws but that died out after a bit 90% or more of the wins come from the front rows, that's what soured more than anything else. I seen alot of wingless races it just never got me ga ga till 2 nites ago and only one car did it. He was a show stopper

Why do they make the drivers make a hard right to get to the scales instead of letting them cut through the infield?

That isn't my biggest gripe but it creates a hump in the track surface at both tracks.

You either have never been there or don't realize that the scales are in the pits and the track is usually pretty smooth and when it isn't its usually too much rain the days leading up to race nites.  The future is doubtful enough there as it is
