Revamped Can-Am Speedway ARRA Page Features Complete History
Ringoes,NJ – ARRA President Fred Voorhees today, completed months of research work on the Northern New York State speedway facility, the Can-Am Motorsport Park speedway. The popular dirt track motorsports facility opened up for business back in 1974 and has competed every year since...under the auspices of a handful of different track owners. Having had a page on the Auto Racing Research Associates statistical website for years previously, it was decided about a year ago that it was time to expand on the coverage of the websites page from 1996 forward to encompassing its entire history from its fledgling years. “It was time for it to be honest.” Fred stated as the final format changes of the Can-Am page were being instituted. “It seemed like quite a bit of our research over the past couple of years had a stumbling block of not having Can Am completely mapped out. It became quite clear that having the complete weekly results for the Lafargeville, NY track would cut down future research projects significantly” The Can-Am page debuted on the ARRA website many years ago and contained only stats from the 1996 season forward and was helped quite a bit by ARRA fellow historian Dennis Clapperton and his own stats website RaceStatCentral. ARRA continued to document the tracks weekly results since then but now, even outside entities who use the site often for stats and information have been asking for more complete coverage of the results. “As I mentioned...circumstances demanded that we ramp up our coverage of Can-Am and about three months ago...I sat down and hit it hard. As it turns out...this Can-Am coverage is some of the most complete set of weekly stats as any track I have ever done.” mused Voorhees. “Kudos to the tracks press departments over the years! The coverage was so damned consistent and regular in the papers...Gater News carried me all the way through 2014 and I switched over to the coverage provided by AARN to see me through to the 2024 season. Track PR person Tim Baltz...who happens to be one of our esteemed historians here at ARRA was a huge help! I have totally revamped the Can-Am page on our site. I have updated the weekly results and champions files and have added a complete all time win list.” I invite all Northeast dirt track racing fans to check it out at:https://sites.google.com/view/tracks-series-organizations/can-am-speedwayp>
