Washington States Skagit Speedway Becomes ARRA’s 148th Researched Track
Ringoes,NJ – In its infancy, Auto Racing Research Associates – ARRA, began as a simple group of local NJ race fans who had an interest in compiling stats on local drivers and tracks. Well, things have sort of turned up the wick over the past ten years or so and what started back in the mid 90’s as a two man research team, has branched out to a national auto racing historian group, amounting to 40 well versed historians from America’s coast to coast and into Canada. The Skagit Speedway track history addition to the ARRA website represents the change that has taken place at ARRA! Skagit Speedway will now be among the weekly race tracks that will have its weekly results tabulated to continue to record its history. It represents a spreading of the wings of a sort for the group that had basically kept their statistics, at one point, narrowly focused on the Northeast. “Not so anymore!” beemed ARRA President Fred Voorhees Thursday night as he completed his data entry in the final stages of compiling the stats and prepping a page for the Burlington, WA speedway that presents weekly open wheel sprint car racing. “Historian Nicky Teto clued me in on the website of Skagit.” Fred revealed. “Nicky called me up for some other ARRA business and mentioned the tracks site and the stats it contained.” The speedway had a decent amount of stats, but once Voorhees began to dig around the internet, he discovered even more statistics that allowed his research to go back as far as 1994 with complete top three results for every feature run. “I have been in contact with the speedway and they have told me that they have a statistician working on the speedways stats.” Fred stated. “In fact, I spoke to him last night on the phone and we have exchanged information and we will be staying in touch with each other to make sure that we both have as much statistical information that can be ferreted out.” Skagit becomes the ARRA groups 148th speedway that they now offer statistical information about on their always growing website. “The big deal for me personally with Skagit joining our weekly coverage of stats, is the fact that it truly begins to help entrench us across the nation, from coast to coast in our coverage.” Fred tells the story. “Historian Tom Schmeh convinced me to “Go National”. I was a bit edgy about the thought, but he convinced me it was the next logical step and we have never looked back!” Skagit will supply ARRA with their weekly press releases to enable the weekly updating of the website. “I decided to try a small change in the way I collect all of my weekly stats to keep the website updated and current weekly. As the number of tracks on our site with complete coverage of all divisions run...I need a reliable source of information for every division run. Track releases will be the most reliable to provide all of that.” Fans wishing to take a look at the newest page on the ARRA website can access it by clicking this link: https://sites.google.com/view/tracks-series-organizations/skagit-speedwayp> Auto Racing Research Associates is a growing group of over forty auto racing historians across the country banded together for the purpose of the research, documentation and displaying of auto racing history such as driver win statistics, track, racing series and organizations histories and also the background of racing personalities, particular cars from the past and various other interesting facts of racing history that should not be forgotten. ARRA continues to build a network of associated auto racing related websites to unite for better chances of furthering the understanding of the past of our sport. ARRA offers looking up services for those looking for one particular piece of information from the past. They are the official statistics information source of the Flemington Speedway Historical Society and have been doing much of the research work for a number of years for the Northeast Dirt Modified Museum and Hall of Fame in Weedsport, NY.
