Bonus Money Aplenty for Golden Hammer

What Dave,Jr. did after 3" of rain fell on the Little Track By The River to get the July 2nd Golden Hammer races in deserves some recognition. Thanks Dave and track crew.

The Golden Hammer entry list encompassed 34 / 600s, 27 / 270s, 12 / 125s and 13 Junior Sprints.

Something unheard of in small car racing was Dave and Brenda giving tow money to the 600 non-qualifiers and 270 A Main non-starters.

Over $2000 in bonus money and awards was given out for the 4 classes running.

Fast timers were : Wayne Scott (600s), Matt Hoffman (270s), John Maurer (125s) and Andrew Ferriola (Junior Sprints)

The 30 lap 270 main event led things off and the D & D Motorsports # 747 driven by Richie Hartman wrestled the lead from Jeffrey Confer on lap 1 and was challenged but never bested taking the win over a hard charging Adam Buchel who had to ward off the progresses of Jacob Neff. Staying within striking distance was Dustin Roberts,Dallas Sanders, Matt McAnally and Matt Hoffman. As the race escalated Dave Labe and John Maurer entered the scene.Trailing Hartman was Buchel with Maurer getting by 5 cars in the last 8 laps for 3rd with Matt McAnally 4th and Jacob Neff holding on for 5th. Hard luck went to Dustin Roberts who was headed pit side while running 3rd. Jarrett Imler was the hard charger going from 24th to 7th.

The Junior Sprints had a relatively quick 25 lap affair with Jase Smith overtaking Andrew Ferriola on lap 9 and cruised to the win. Behind this pair was an all out group run with Gavin Wolfe Carter Green,Aiden Buckwalter and Barrett Bressler in a tightly packed group. Getting a great view of the racing in front of him was Logan Schibilia. Behind the high flying Smith was Andrew Ferriola, Junior Slingshot runner Gavin Wolfe getting a hard fought 3rd. Carter Green staying 4th from lap 3 with Schibilia slotting in for 5th. Hard luck to Aiden Buckwalter who had a chain breakage while running 5th.Hard charger went to Logan Schibilia going from 9th to 5th.

Rilynn Hannula brought the 125 micro field to the green and was your leader until drifting high in turn 1 on lap 8 opening some racing room for John Maurer and Dave Schroeder to slip by. Also losing a few spots was Easton Miller Making a strong challenge at the 9 lap distance was Seth Gregory who capitalized on the Hannula / Miller fall back in turn 1 to secure the 2nd spot for which he would hold behind John Maurer to the checkers. Dave Schroeder warded off the late race challenge by Miller to claim 3rd with Easton getting 4th and Rilynn Hannula refocusing for 5th. Hard luck went to Steve Simmons who was a top 5 runner until mechanical issues beset the 04 and he was pit ward for the remainder of the event. Hard charger was John Maurer getting the win from his 5th starting spot.

The final event was the 30 lap A Main for the 600 micros and Christian Bruno wasted little time in setting an incredible pace. Behind Bruno's 5B it was an all out run to the checker with Richie Hartman, Dylan Kontra and Matthew Warner swapping positions in the first 3 laps with Matt McAnally, Adam Buchel and Wayne Scott in the mix. A few cautions bunched up the field with some of the starters from back in the pack getting noticed, those being Grayson Springer, Trent Warner, Jase Smith and Tyler Henry..A lap 22 yellow for Richie Hartman gave the field 1 last shot at altering the final positions As Bruno ,Matthew Warner  and Matt McAnally were out and about  Adam Buchel re-entered the top 5 runners on lap 24 and was just beaten to the checker by Dylan Kontra for 4th. Trent Warner, Springer and Henry rounded out the top 8 as Smith was a late race DNF. Hard luck went to Trevor Kobylarz who was part of an early race tangle regrouped and back into the top 10 but was an innocent caution victim late in the race sending him back to the rear. He did get the G Racing (Geezer Fanelli) "donits award" for being the car finishing behind Geezer after 30 laps. Hard charger went to Tyler Henry who methodically picked has way through the 24 car field to get 8th from his 22nd starting spot.

Checker for the night was thrown at 11:09. A main lineups were a redraw for the 270's,125's and Junior Sprints. The top 3 from the 3 270 heats, the top 3 from the 2 125 and Junior Sprint heats lined up the top 9 and the top 6's. Cash Dash lined up the 600 micro main with the 8 cars locked in from time trials.

Fan of the Week and concession vouchers were sponsored by Dawn and Dennis McKeon from D & D Motorsports (270 micro race winning car owners), Pocono Int. Raceway and Jen Feltenberger.

Wingless Weds. resumes July 9th with another 7 division card.
