ARRA Research Moves Closer to National Status with Skagit Speedway now Complete!

Ringoes, NJ – “We need to take this stuff national!” insisted Auto Racing Research Associates historian Thomas Schmeh after he had settled into a research position with the group of auto racing historians making up ARRA Research.

And ARRA has done just that!  “Tom came to us here at ARRA after he left the position of Curator of the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame, located in Knoxville, Iowa.” stated Fred Voorhees, ARRA founding member and President.  “Tom was used to dealing on a national level in his position as the head dude at the sprint car hall of fame.  He quickly saw the potential of our auto racing statistical website and let me know that we needed to move it to the next level and that could only mean taking it national!”

Voorhees took the advice of Schmeh and began to bring in statistics from all over the nation.  “Nicky Teto, another one of our historians, alerted me to the website of the Skagit Speedway, located in Alger, Washington about five or six months ago.   He said they had a great deal of statistics on their website regarding weekly results.” Voorhees revealed.  “I went and looked and sure enough, they had a nice amount of statistics available and I set about entering that information into a spreadsheet to ready for inclusion on our website.”

Voorhees was able to piece together a compilation of stats for the Washington state facility from 1994 forward, intending to expand on the history of the track, going all the way back to its beginning, back in the early fifties.  “Regrettably, I wasn’t able to get much in the way of stats for the first few years”, Voorhees noted.  “But, I got what I could with the resources that I have at hand.”

“My main concern here is that the addition of the Skagit Speedway in Washington expands ARRA’s regional and national presence and it represents one of the few tracks nationwide that will now be updated on a weekly basis.  Track personnel have added me to their weekly release list to keep me abreast of the happenings there and I am proud to say that ARRA now has what is more than likely the most comprehensive files on the competition history of the Washington State 3/10ths of a mile dirt track!  We are slowly moving in on the “National Status” that historian Thomas Schmeh pushed for us to be.”

Those that wish to view the all new and updated records of the Skagit Speedway, well known for its sprint car history and the big names that ran there weekly and annually in their bigger events can view the page and its statistics at:  https://sites.google.com/view/tracks-series-organizations/skagit-speedway
