The Sept.10th night at Shellhammer Dirt Track was indeed another enjoyable night with some new faces visiting victory lane.
Special mention that 2025 Miss Motorsports Makayla Kohler joined in on the festivities as did Low Down Entertainment's Joe Adams.
Starting out the A Main list was the Junior Slingshots and it took Gavin Wolfe to get to turn 1 as the race leader. Behind Gavin was an all out scramble as positions were being swapped with every lap. Aubrey Romig found some racing room on lap 7 to wrestle the lead from Gavin and claim her 5th win of the season. Hailey Burnatowski was part of a mid-race incident and regrouped to finish 2nd. Wolfe held on for 3rd with Barry Seaman getting to the checkered just ahead of Frank Fritzinger for 4th. A big shout out to everyone that helped get Frank's car on the speedway as the battery died right before post time.
The 125 micro main saw Shane Davis assume command with Dylan Yeingst.Easton Miller and Seth Gregory in hot pursuit as Sam Borger, making a return behind the wheel getting a good view while running 5th. A turn 4 mixup shook things up and Gregory took the top spot on lap 14 in getting his 6th win of the season over a hard charging Easton Miller. Borger slotted the 04 in for 3rd just ahead of Yeingst and Mitch Gibson.
It was the Ferriola Family battle for the Junior Sprint top spot and Andrew was not going to be denied his 3rd win of 2025. Staying in the shadows of Andrew was Lucas Ferriola to earn a well run 2nd ahead of Caleb Witmer,Aiden Buckwalter,Tyler Johnson and Ryder Wise. The 20 laps was completed in 3:36 with no stoppages.
It was another heart breaker in the 270 class for Matt Hoffman. Matt was leading until misfortune had the 17H heading to the infield on lap 4. Assuming the top spot and sailing to his 5th win of the season was Matt McAnally. Matt had Adam Buchel inching closer as the laps flew by,but held on for the win with Buchel getting 2nd. Another strong showing for the 52Z of Chase Zigenfuss, with Jeff Ubel rebounding from a trip to the back to get 4th just ahead of Clinton Hauser who also was part of a midpack incident and drove back through the field for 5th.
A sigh of relief for Brett Smith as the Stage 1 pilot finally completed a complete race after weeks of mechanical issues and being the innocent part of on track incidents to get the Stage 1 Modified win over Johnny Fugelo who had a private battle with Dylan Hoch, getting by Dylan on lap 16 for 2nd. Dylan was 3rd with A J Gerhart slotting in for 4th as Luke McCloskey got 5th after having some issues in the 721 during hotlaps.
It was a week ago the Geezer Fanelli was running the best race of his time at Shellhammer's only to lose on the last lap with a great pass by Adam Buchel, but this week it was to be quite different for the 600 micro racer. Rockey Johnson,Sr. had the power coming to the green but drifted a little high in turn 2 with Fanelli doing a quick crossover to pass Johnson at the exit of turn 2 to take the lead of which Trevor Kobylarz now running 2nd wanting to get by Fanelli. There were no stoppages in this 20 lap main and Fanelli's straightaway lead was whittled down to 2 car lengths. Behind the front running pair 3rd,4th and 5th was another attention getter with Johnson,Rhett Long, Matt McAnally and Adam Buchel all wanting that 3rd place payout. With the white flag waving and slower traffic immediately ahead Fanelli got to the checkered just .367 ahead of Kobylarz as Long claimed the 3rd spot over McAnally and Buchel. Race was completed in 3:16 with Fanelli getting his 1st career micro win at Shellhammer's.
The female fans in attendance had something to cheer about in the All Star Slingshot feature as the girls were completely dominant for all 20 laps with Tess Horvath, Lindsey Garl,Hailey Eroh and Jocelynn Darinsig virtually as stated,"racing under a blanket". Lindsey got to the right rear of Horvath on lap 9 but did not have enough to get by as she now had to ward off the challenges of Eroh and Darinsig.Slotting into 5th after getting by Dan Lane,Jr. was last weeks winner Brett Bieber, but the Horvath Racing Team driver had to settle for 5th behind the front running females. Tess got her 1st 2025 win with Garl just beating Eroh to the checkered by a few feet for 2nd with Darinsig close behind Hailey in getting 4th.
Miss Motorsports Makayla Kohler joined in during the victory lane ceremonies with the final checkered shown at 9:44.
Last call for payout was made and all race teams were on their way home at 10:05 except for the "G" Team which took victory photos with anyone that wanted to be a part of the celebration.
Of the 17 races run for qualifying and A Mains, 11 went green to checkered with no stoppages.
