ARRA Significantly Increases Its Documentation of Selinsgrove Speedway!

Ringoes,NJ – Auto Racing Research Associates President Fred Voorhees is proud to announce the outcome of three months of work putting together an almost complete history of feature event winners at Selinsgrove, PA’s Selinsgrove Speedway.

Selinsgrove is one of the Keystone states longest active auto racing facilities with a rich history of auto racing. Built in 1945…designed and laid out by famous Hollywood stunt driver Joey Chitwood, it hosted its first race in 1946 and that event was won by Bill Holland, who just three years later, captured the Indianapolis 500.

“I was going through the internet for some research purposes and happened upon Selinsgrove Speedways website and I was stunned that they had a VERY comprehensive collection of just about all of their feature winners from the past. It was a gold mine!” exclaimed Voorhees who immediately knew that he had to grab all of the stats to increase the research groups statistical information for their burgeoning site.

“The site provided me with the winners of each and every feature event run there since the 1963 season and documented winners even before that. I have been at this for a few months, but it was worth every one of the many, many hours I poured into it to grab the vast history of the facility. Before this…I really only had the winners lists of some of their divisions and a champions list. I have worked to get so much more now. All champions, a weekly list of all feature event winners from the support divisions to the headline divisions and visiting classes, as well as All Time Win Lists for a variety of the divisions that competed there!” Voorhees boasted as he began to put the finishing touches on the work.

“I invite all racing fans to go to our site and visit the newly revamped page covering Selinsgrove’s long history of exciting open wheel racing and see just how much I have enlarged our statistics on it courtesy of the speedways website!” Voorhees mentioned. “Apparently, there were weekly events from 1950 through 1959 that were not available on the site, but I understand that its events were well documented in local publications and I have an internet subscription site that should provide me with those details, so I hope to fill in that gap using that internet source.”
