DAVISON WINS IRON REVOLUTION 100; REED TOPS WALL STADIUM MODFIEDS SATURDAY

WALL, NJ ~ Veteran racers Kevin Davison of Howell and Steven Reed of Jackson were the big winners in the NASCAR Local Racing Series presented by O'Reilly Auto Parts on Saturday night at Wall Stadium. Davison earned a post first place prize of $3000 plus bonus awards by winning the first ever Iron Revolution 100 for NASCAR Sportsman cars while Reed topped the 40 lap race for the NASCAR Modified cars.

Former champions Davison and Chris Silvestri of Hazlet wrestled for the lead at the outset of the 100 lapper before Davison throttled to the outside lane to take the lead. The race then went non-stop through lap 50 before the field was allowed to pit for fuel.

The second half of the race offered a different scenario as several caution flags waved. Davison then found himself in the hot seat as repeated restart attacks came from Ryan Kuhlthau and James Blewett, both of Howell. In fact, when Kuhlthau and Blewett were not hounding Davison they were battling each other for second.

At the finish Davison beat Blewett and Kuhlthau to the line with Zach Lenardo and Quinn Trimmer wrapping up the top five.

“I think this is the biggest win of my career,” Davison said after the event. “We've won just about all the big Sportsman races and with five titles I've been very fortunate. The help and support of my family and all my sponsors make it all happen.”

Defending champ Tyler Truex of Mayetta and former champ Reed fought for first at the outset of the Modified 40-lapper with Reed taking the lead early with a diving inside lane pass. Reed then stood his ground the rest of the way with Blake Barney of Howell, who won the first two races of the series, offering several attacks. Derek Hopkinson of Milltown advanced from deep in the field to finish third. Brick's Eddie McCarthy and Wall's Tyler Ferris were fourth and fifth.

“This one is really special,” Reed said “My wife just celebrated a birthday and my kids are here for the first time this season. I think we've had one of the fastest cars this season. All the hard work paid off.”

Mike Alcaro of West Milford returned to the third mile paved oval and returned to his winning ways topping the 25 lap race for the Legend Cars. Alcaro took the lead with a lap nine inside lane pass. Jack Gerzabek, Justin Emmons, Tyler Pappas and Mark Tischler completed the top five

Geoffrey Sutton of East Strasbourg, Pa. topped the 25 lap race for the touring ATQMRA TQ Midgets. Jeff Kot, Kyle Taraska, Joey Payne and Blake Barney wrapped up the top five.

.    Wall Stadium will return to action this Saturday night June 6. The Factory Stocks will be in the spotlight as they compete in Twin 20 lap races on Pack the Track Night which feature a $10 adult admission. Sportsman cars and 4 Cylinder cars and Legend Cars will also be in action. Qualifying is at 6:00 p.m. with main events starting at 7:30 p.m.
